WHAT WE believe
The Heritage Learning Center has been nurturing and teaching young children in the Annapolis area for over 35 years. We believe that children learn best in creative, thoughtful, intentional, and safe environments. Our dedicated teaching staff provides developmentally appropriate designed to stimulate and encourage each child's individual growth. We strive to incorporate art, science, music, faith, movement, and nature into each school day. Yes, we know this is a lot- but we believe early childhood education is more than facts and memorization. At its best, it encompasses social, emotional, and academic development. Our play-based philosophy and hands-on learning experiences teach the whole child. We believe all children have unique personalities, diverse learning styles, differing family backgrounds, and individual milestones. Children deserve classroom opportunities to experiment, play, investigate, discover, create, imagine and solve problems. We offer this type of education by keeping our teacher-to-student ratio low, allowing children to thrive.
Our Program
OUR TREMENDOUS TWOS
HLC’S program for two-year-olds is likely to be your child's first introduction to school. We make this first experience a positive one by as providing a wealth of love, care, and security. This nurturing environment is designed to encourage the child’s natural curiosity of learning. The teachers introduce students to a variety of activities that engage and stimulate growth. Children enrolling in the 2’s program must be two by September 1st. If space is available, rolling admission is accepted once your child has turned two.
OUR THRIVING THREES
In HLC’s program for three-year-olds, an emphasis is placed on the child’s natural love of learning and successful socialization. Both are fostered through play, with the help of knowledgeable teachers who integrate the individual children into a group experience. All of our subject matter is taught through weekly or monthly age-appropriate themes. Skill development is infused throughout our 3’s curriculum and progress is assessed monthly.
OUR FANTASTIC FOURS
HLC’s program for 4-year-olds is designed to provide students with the confidence and skills they need to enter kindergarten. Children continue to enjoy the play and creativity of preschool while learning more about transitions from free play activities to structured activities. In addition to weekly learning themes, our 4’s will work on upper and lowercase letter recognition, develop a curiosity for reading and writing, count rationally, copy patterns, sort and classify, and much, much more.

The Heritage Learning Center is a non-profit preschool supervised by the Learning Center Committee of Heritage Baptist Church and is an important ministry of the church.

Nope :)
Does my family have to believe in God?
No, but at HLC God will be talked about. Prayers will be said and lessons about God’s love will be taught. Our goal is not to exclude or single out any family of different faith backgrounds.
